An Inquirer Answered

  1. Who spoke these words?
    The Lord Jesus
  2. To whom were these words spoken?
    To Nicodemus.
  3. What do we know about Nicodemus?
    He was a Pharisee and member of the Jewish ruling council - a politician.
  4. Why does the Lord say this to Nicodemus?
    Nicodemus tried to come as an equal or superior to the Lord Jesus.

A Heavenly Vision

  1. How does the Lord Jesus show the importance of his message?
    He starts with "I tell you the truth."
  2. Why does this verse apply to the individual's responsibility?
    The Lord Jesus says "I tell you"
  3. Why does this verse apply to all humans?
    The Lord Jesus says "no-one"
  4. What does the kingdom of God refer to?
    The rule and reign of God over His people.
  5. Where is this kingdom?
    This kingdom is not (yet) on earth - it is heavenly.

A Spiritual Revolution

  1. How can we see the Kingdom of God?
    Only when we are "born again" we can see or enter this kingdom.
  2. What is the meaning of "born again?"
    A new start of a new type life - not a physical birth, but a spiritual birth.
  3. How can I become "born again?"
    Well, just as you cannot make yourself be born in the first place, being born again is also an outside act: the Holy Spirit must work in you.
  4. How can I be responsible for something I cannot do?
    The Lord Jesus promises that the Holy Spirit will work this change in every one who believes in his atoning work (John 3:16)
  5. What does the word "born again" teach us?
    It is something complete, radical and new.
  6. Why is this an urgent message?
    It is the only way we can enter or see God's Kingdom.
