Salvation is
found in no-one else then Jesus Christ of Nazareth, for there is no
other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.

An exclusive message
- To whom were these words spoken?
To the rulers, elders, teachers of the law and the priests.
- When did Peter speak these words?
When Peter and John had been arrested.
- What does it mean "Salvation is found in no-one else?"
That of all the beings on earth or in heaven there is not one who can save
us but our Lord Jesus Christ.
- How did Peter enforce this statement?
He also said: "there is no other name ... by which we must be saved."
- What great lesson does this teach us?
That if we are saved we must be saved by our Lord Jesus Christ.
- What is salvation?
Putting away the punishment due to sin and bringing us into eternal life.
- What are the three parts of salvation?
Justification, Sanctification and Glorification.
An all-powerful Name
- What is given to us "by which we must be saved?"
The name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
- What is meant by the name of a person?
The character, authority and work of any person.
- Why is there no other name given?
There is no one else who has the character and qualifications of a Saviour.
- What qualities does make our Lord the Saviour?
The fact that He had been crucified and had risen again from the dead.
- What is meant by "under heaven?"
The whole world.
- Why does Peter repeat himself in this verse?
To remove any lingering idea that anyone can do anything for our salvation
except the Lord Jesus.
- Why is the name given "to men"?
The power of the Lord to save is available to all mankind.
- What do we learn from the word "given?"
This salvation is not invented by humans, but revealed by God.
An ever-present Need.
- Why is the Name of the Lord given to men?
In order that we may be saved.
- Why does it say by which we must be saved?
It is in connection with our Lord's divine power and work that salvation
comes.
- How does Peter emphasize the fact that the name of Christ is needed
for salvation?
He says we must be saved by His name
- What does it mean that "we must be saved?"
God's purpose of salvation is unalterably fixed in Christ.
- What lesson is here taught?
That trust in any other way of salvation is altogether vain.
