Irish Saints

Some say that to obtain Sainthood you have to have some miracles on your name, and after your death a slow process is set in charge by which you eventually will be declared a Saint.

When the Apostle Paul wrote his letters, he generally addressed the Christians as Saints, meaning disciples of Christ, - Christians. The word Saint is related to "holy," "sanctify" and similar words, expressing both the position Christians have been brought in by the atoning work of the Lord Jesus Christ and a status we should achieve in our daily live.

Ireland during the dark ages was reputed to be the Isle of Saints and Scholars, and many ordinary Irish(wo)man obtained Sainthood by believing the message that Patrick, Columcille, Columban and many many others preached.

It is the purpose of these web pages to highlight some of the thousands of Irish Saints that have walked Ireland in the gray past, or even very recently. If you want to list "an ordinary Christian" or "Saint" for these pages, please email the editors! If you want to post your own testimony, please email us also. It will be posted in the testimonies section.
